This is our BFHAG (Big Fat Hairy Audacious Goal) Building a central Kitchen  facility with Solar panels on the roof to provide power to all of the buildings  as well as running water to the shower areas! If anyone knows someone with  $40,000 I think we can get it done! All but two of the family kitchens are in disrepair  and while its remains critical that the children maintain their family unit it will be more cost effective to construct one central facility for the storage of food, sanitary management of the utensils and of course cooking. The expectation is that family’s would sign up for alternating weeks and instead of cooking for 27 they would be increasing the quantities to cook for the entire group which also teaches basic cooking skills.  This building would ideally  be located in the vicinity of  the guesthouse and planned in such a way that the  secondary assembly hall  could be added to it, ultimately offering opportunity for large food events. Perhaps this is a building project Livingstone would like to do?

The building will likely be about the size of the Guesthouse and needs to  have at least four rooms. One large Cooking area, with a series of large Kettles  exhausting to the outside (There is a model we would like to emulate at  Hope School in Masaka), a storage room that would have a door to the
outside to accept deliveries, a dish room with a sink for washing the plates, cups and cooking tensils and lastly a small room to accommodate the solar equipment. Adding the central Kitchen also gives us the opportunity convert the existing Kitchens to proper accommodations for the Mothers, allowing us to maximize the capacity of each family to 9 per house for a total of 27. We will  need to ship a pressure washer to remove the  soot from these kitchens; they will  likely need to be re plastered before someone could live in them. but here is the great news. We found a group in Oregon who have perfected the Rocket Stove and we purchased one to take with us on our trip. It was a huge success and has lead to a new  self sufficency project, we intend to fund and srta a factory to poduce Rocket  Stoves in Uganda. Check out our Rocket Stove Special Project!
